Adding Mental Game coaching to your game proved to be the winning formula for Joshua and Dad Malcolm Taylor in the annual Adult / Child Par 3 competition at the Tiger Club last weekend. Malcolm just qualified in Business NLP coaching and Joshua who receives Golf Mental Game coaching from head Pro Ian Parker secured the title with an impressive 28 nett 27.

Playing foursomes off ¾ of the child’s Tiger handicap, 48 pairs teed off and beat the predicted ‘flash floods’ by just an hour. A Fun Skills challenge was devised by Parent Mark Hinds and included Pitching, Putting and Sand skills.

James Munro and Dad Alistair took the Nett Title with a score of 40 nett 17 winning James a pair of Golf Shoes whilst Joshua took away a set of Pro Quip waterproofs for taking the Gross Title.

Such is the desire to play in this annual event that Mill Green’s Club President Leo Smith aged 83 years joined in by partnering ex Girls Captain Lauren Morten and enthused afterwards that the Tiger Club was superb and the best way to get into golf and how lucky all the youngsters are to have such a dedicated and experienced team on hand to coach them. Also so keen to play was one of the Ian’s LMG (Lady Masters Golf) course attendees who with no child in the Tiger Club managed to ‘adopt’ Tiger Lucy Silverosa for the day. Luckily Lucy’s dad John was still able to play courtesy of son William.

Winners of the Skills Challenge were Megan and Matt Dennis with an impressive 490 points winning on a countback from Sam and Derek Armitage.

Nearest the Pins went to Tim Taylor and Ronnie Heat and Tiger Joshua Taylor whilst best dressed pair went to Olivia and Teresa Dyson who looked the part in Pale yellow Ralph Lauren tops and Blue skirts.

This competition is the ideal way for parents to get together and especially for new members and their parents to get involved and make new friends. Over 120 people attended the post golf BBQ and Prize Presentation.

Making sure the local community also benefited from all the fun on offer a total of £270 was raised for the local Alzheimer’s charity courtesy of a ‘Beat the Pro’ competition on the 9th Hole.
