Men's Captain, Gwyn Ellis presented Ella, Callum & Josh with cheques out of the newly created special Tiger fund for as a contribution towards their costs this summer as the trio head out to America to compete in World Junior events.

The fund was initially created by the funds raised by these three Tigers during a par 3 challenge held at a recent Men's medal (see article below) which raised well over £500 on the day!  The Men's and Lady's committees and past Captains then topped the fund up with additional monies and the ongoing balance in the fund will be administered by the Men's committee for future worthy causes within the Tiger Club.

The day the Tigers took on the men at the 5th in

‘Beat the International Qualifier’

Our thanks  to Gwyn, Phil and the commitee for organising and hosting such a successful fund raising activity. Three young Tigers (Joshua, Callum & Ella) stood on the 5th tee for the morning and challenged each group as they came around to a nearest the pin competition.

It was great to watch the men coming over the hill from the 4th and see the look of trepidation as they approached the tee!  I don’t believe that I have ever heard quite so many ‘reasons’ as to why they might not be successful against the 3 Tigers and after their tee shots  I usually make the green ”, “the wind is stronger than I thought ” and  I hit the ground on that one ” were probably the most commonly heard excuses!  It was clear who was the most anxious on the tee although I must say with the youngsters, their parents and generally another group watching, most men were probably under a little pressure!  In contrast the children were completely un-phased and very accurate (particularly by the end!) As a result they only gave away 22 sleeves of balls in a field of a 130 men!

This was a fantastic example of Mill Green supporting their youngsters and a lovely opportunity for both to get to know each other better. Although only three children were there on the day they represented a flourishing section and the exciting future of our club.

Thank you as a parent for your wonderful support and continued interest and thank you on behalf of all the children in the Tiger club who will now benefit from your generous donations.
