Mill Green Vs Shire
Away Match Report
Sunday 19th October 2008
ALL HAD FUN !
Junior members form the Tiger club visited the prestigious Shire
London Golf Club to play a match along side the junior members of
the Shire's Rookie club.
The format for the day was a team Texas Scramble as suggested by the
Shire's Head pro Chris Whitelegg. This was to enable all the golfers
to be mixed up into teams to ensure that everyone had a fair chance
of winning a trophy as well as getting to know the members from the
other club.
Luckily the weather stayed dry for us all and the standard of golf
produced by everyone was once again brilliant as the par 3 / 4
course was was quite tricky with undulating greens, plenty of water
to contend with as well as long rough.
The team scores showed how good everyone played on the day with the
winning team coming in at only 3 over par with a score of 33 and
second place with a score of 34, all the other teams were all very
close. I only wish that everyone could have won a prize as the
sportsmanship and behavior from all the Tigers was impeccable and
they certainly did us proud.
The winning tigers were Florrie Moss
Winterbottom, Andrew Tomlinson,
Henry Taylor and
George Avgousti (well done all of
you).
Henry Taylor acted as match captain
for the day and did a brilliant job with a fantastic speech and a
wonderful certificate that he presented to the Shire which his dad
produced for us (many thanks for that).
Lastly I would like to thank the Tiger parents who helped out on the
day. If it wasn't for you, these matches just couldn't happen.
Once again the day finished off with sweets and chocolate.
Thanks
Teresa
