Tiger Shambles !

Redbourn was unable to make the match scheduled for today so it was decided to invite all Tigers and parents we could to play in our first ever'Tiger Shambles' match. A great chance for some of our newest Tigers to join in some Tiger fun.
Shambles is actually a real golf 'fun' game (honestly - I didn't make it up) but I decided to modify things slightly and increase the points / add in some string ! Each group competed as their own team against all other groups with the winning team being the ones scoring the most points as follows:
* All players tee off on each hole
* Teams then chose their best tee shot for their group
* All players then play their own ball from there as if that shot was their own tee shot
* Each player then scores points similar to stableford (ie: 0 for double boggie or more, 1 point for boggie, 2 for par, 3 for birdie etc.)
* The Team score for each hole is their combined points on the hole
* while 5 of the teams only had 3 players, four of them had 4 and we did let them take the best 3 of 4 points on each hole (which in hindsight was a bit generous for some !) but 2nd & 3rd did go to teams with only 3 players.

I decided all players would play off scratch but gave each group an 8ft length of string that they could use (in whatever lengths they wanted to) as 'free shots' to help them score more points. So if you missed the putt - no worries, just use up a piece of your string to pop it in the hole anyway!

The catch is that once the team uses up all their string, that's it you are on your own. It was down to the Team Captains to tie knots in the string as they went along to keep track of how much they had left. Great fun for everyone I think and something I hope the rest of the Tigers can try out sometime.

Of course we finished up with chips / squash and a few thankyou's and prizes. As both Captains were away today, next year's girl captain Sian was able to step in and present the prizes to the winners and to our special visiting 'Tiger for a day' Lloyd whom I hope had a good afternoon with us.

Cheers,
Darryl

Thanks to Viv who raced out for the last minute prize shopping as it was much appreciated.
