Tigers Vs Redbourn
The return match against Redbourn proved much closer than previous encounters with the Tigers only edging the match in the very last group. A huge thanks to Mark Hinds for running the match on the day as Viv & I were unavailable but from all accounts everything went smoothly. We have now established a great new contact and Redbourn and look forward to many more matches in the future. Thanks also to those parents who helped out wit the marshalling on the day.
Darryl & Viv Match one saw Boys Captain Ben and partner Sam get ahead twice but Redbourn responded getting back to level with the visitors getting the draw on the last hole of the match. A good match. Match 2 had the Redbourn best pairing take on Alex & Jarvis. The Tigers went ahead but then Redbourn clawed it back and eventually ended up 2&1 winners. Match 3 for the Tigers also went the wrong way as Girls Captain Rachael and her partner Daisy quickly went down by 2 before pulling one back and keeping the match close. It was not to be though and in the end they lost 3&1 putting Redbourn now ahead 2.5 to .5 Current Tiger star Callum and his partner Sian were able to bring the Tigers back to within one as they combined well to beat their opponents 4&2. Callum just continues to shine! Mighty match 5 had all the youngest golfers duelling it out with Redbourn coming back from down down to take the match 1 up. In match 6 first timers Brandon & Harvey showed they have the stuff as they edged out their opponents 3&2 to again bring the Tigers to within 1. Onto match 7 and again first timers Alfie & Gavin showed they were not out of their depth as they battled back from 1 down after 5 to win the next 3 straight holes and take the match 2&1. Tigers were now all square in the match. In one of the best contests match 8 saw Redbourn bounce back from 1 down no less than 3 times. All square after 8 holes it came down to the difficult 7th where Tigers Matt and Daniel came up with the goods and walked away winners 1up and allow the Tigers to retain the cup. Unfortunately Redbourn were short 2 players so thanks to Liam for stepping in to take on the last Tiger pairing. The Tigers ended up winning 1 up on the last of their holes but the match did not count for the trophy purposes. Still, well played by Alex & Emily who beat Liam who has been playing well of late. Nearest the pins went to Callum Walker for the Tigers and Connor O'Grady from Redbourn. Well done everyone.
